ARTIST PROFILE

CHERIE VAZEY

I started knitting when I was about seven years old, and in my teens I taught myself to crochet. I’ve always got something on the needles and enjoy seeing others get pleasure from my creations.

I have three children and six grandchildren and have travelled around New Zealand in our caravan. For the past 20 years, we’ve also done a lot of house and pet sitting throughout the North Island.

My working life included hairdressing and floristry, and alongside my craft work, I enjoy gardening and making jams and pickles.

I especially enjoy making slipper socks, Buzzy Bee mobiles and crocheted hand towels.
