ARTIST PROFILE
WOVEN TREASURES
Art by Anahera
I’m from the eastern shores of Rotorua – Hinemoa Point and Ruamata on my father’s side. I also have whakapapa connections to the Far North and to Rarotonga on my mother’s side.
I recently graduated from Te Rito o Rotowhio National Weaving School at the New Zealand Māori Arts and Crafts Institute in 2025, as part of the 5th intake. Even with that, I still consider myself an amateur weaver – because with raranga, the learning never really ends.
I can’t go a day without working with harakeke in some way or another. Being in this space keeps me centred and grounded, and the benefits are endless.
"Weaving is very much a way of life for me."
